Kingfishing on the reef

Sunday, November 26th, 2017

Saturday’s trip was with the Robert and Janet Kowal. Winds were from the NW on Saturday. Seas close to shore were very calm because of the effect of the land blocking the wind. Looking out towards the horizon though large lumps can be seen as high seas develop due to the north wind running into the north flowing gulfstream current.  Luckily we are able to fish the outside edge of the third reef on days such as these in relative comfort. Trolling south off the Diplomat hotel in Hollywood we found an area that was holding fish and caught several nice kingfish.

The kids caught all the fish!!

Sunday’s trip was for the kids! Juan Machado and Jose Tamargo’s group included, Derek Tamargo, Julian Gonzalez, Jeymel Estrada, and Gabriel Machado. The day didn’t disappoint as the kids had a blast reeling in lot’s of mahi – mahi.  Nothing better than seeing the kids geting out on the water and enjoying the sport of deep sea fishing.

Great November mahi fishing

Tuesday, November 21st, 2017

This past Friday we had the Allen family aboard looking to catch some good eating mahi – mahi. The day started off with the sea being a little bouncy but the crew hung in there. Once we found the right area the mahi fishing was in full swing. All in all we ended up with 11 mahi – mahi  in the cooler. We also caught a nice size barracuda that was released, and right as we were pulling in the lines to head for the dock a juvenile sailfish engulfed our isllander lure and ballyhoo combination. This sailfish was sent home to grow up and fight another day.
